assembly name

Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone could clarify for me please what are the causes of assembly name changes.

I have several assemblies of piles/pile caps in order to be able to schedule them properly and assign pile loads (Revit seriously is lacking support when it comes to piling). It all works well but for whatever reason when certain assemblies are copied the name changes (and there are no different conditions). Same happens when level is changed slightly or associated to different level and Revit refuses to keep same name. As well when I try to edit assembly (different pile loads), Revit does not accept the change and forces to create new name. At certain cases it doesn't even let to change properties in assembly (clicking on finish button does not work) and it has to be re-assembled.

This happens when you create a copy of assembly for some reason are being joined together. In this case, the Revit will create a new assembly type. But when these assemblies joined with identical similarities from being joined the assembly name will remain the same from the existing assemblies.

Thank you Arjay.

It's just I can have some assemblies (pile cap with piles based on same cap, no of piles and pile loads assign with global load values) and they have same name even tho some are joined to different ground beams of different size and level. But some simply refuse to keep name although the conditions are not different. Then when I try to change type of some assemblies they move to different level, others don't.
I think it is just one of those tools in Revit that doesn't work well or as one would expect.
