Are there other ways to model WUF-W Moment Connection?

Hello,

I'm making WUF-W moment connection and so far the way I know is with overlap 2 connections, namely shear plate connection with moment connection.

Are there other ways besides overlap connections? for instance, download family from outside, or is there an add-on that automatically makes a WUF-W moment connection?

How do people usually make WUF-W Moment Connection? Because of what I know, this connection is used quite often.

Thank you.

In general I use the same workflow.

To manage them easily, I grouped them both under a custom connection. So, I can apply it in other instances as a single connection.

Hello @catalin_lang,

Can this family be downloaded or loaded from an external project file? or is there an add-in that provides this connection automatically?

I wonder if using Advance Steel software, are the steps to make WUF-W moment connection the same as in Revit or easier? I have never used Advance Steel and I am also new in modeling steel structures at BIM.

Thank you.

I created a short video - https://autode.sk/37YbL2p -  with the steps to create a custom connection starting from standard connections and how to re-use it in other projects via Transfer Project Standards functionality.

Another way to re-use it is to save these connection types in a Revit template file. (it's not in the video, but I'll add a different one for this workflow)

see attached screencast.

Is it answering your question?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing screencasts, it helps me understand more about connections and yes, this answers my question.
