Arch reinforcement issue

We have a question to ask you. We are currently trying to reinforce an arch (geometry attached), there is one bar that goes from the top to the bottom- 37’-10” long. I’m having major problems creating a bar that will do that for us. I’ve found noting on the subject as well. The problem is the arch is several different radii. The bars only have one radius not several.

Just wondering if you might know if this is possible, or am I wasting time on it.arch.jpg

Hello @Anonymous

From what you described and the image (If I understand it right) I think this is a similar case to walls with variable curves or double curved masses/structures where the default available reinforcement tools simply don't pull through. In some cases the built in tools don't even identify such concrete elements/structures to start with.

It's a sad limitation of the built in tools but it is still possible to do it within Revit or Revit with the aid of add-ins. In such cases I usually resort to Adaptive Components and/or Dynamo to model such 3D reinforcement.

The thought that this might be easy to resolve in another software other than an Autodesk one did occure to me; however, working with GT/Tekla it didn't turn out to be any easier there too. I am guessing in such cases one always needs more specialized structural softwares to do it easier.

How did you solve this. Any other solutions different that the one by rdaou?

I am thinking of adding some similar structure in my project assignment but I don't want to do extra modeling for reinforcement
