Alternative ways to zoom pan in Revit Structure

Hello,

I have a bit of a problem. I've been working in AutoCAD for quite a while now, but new to Revit.

I have a disability that makes it next to impossible to use a wheel. In fact thre best mouse for me to use in the Basic Microsoft ($14.00 special) land I immediatly pull the wheel out. Trouble is that the muscles in my hands are weakening and when I use a mouse with a wheel, my pointer finger "wanders" and bumps the wheel creating a situation that zooms in and out randomly and very frustratingly.

Over time I've overcome this with a series of right clicks, shifts and ctrl. I've becomee quite adept at it, although people freak out when they go to do something on my computer and there's a hole where the wheel used to be.

Now there's Revit. I know the Navigation wheel, but to move the mouse to the wheel and navigate with it is cumbersome. I know it'll probably get quicker with time, but maybe there are quick keys. I'm aware of the quick keys zoom commands but the problem is with panning.

Also, I'd tried the 3d navigator mouse. Since I have no real strength to grip with my thumb and forefinger, this is imposible.

Any ideas or pointers are welcome as I've learned to adapt this far.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I guess you already know about the commands Zoom commands ZA, ZE, ZR, ZP etc. Let's skip this.

My advice to you is to use the "tilda", it's the key next to the number 1.

Go to "Keyboard Shorcut" or type KS. On the search dialog box search for "Pan Active View", select it and assign the tilda to it and you don't have to press the space bar for this as long as you didn't assign or assign another shortcut starting with that `character.

Note: it's not a tilda (~) it's the  `. I just dont know what's is called.

You are awesome. Works like a champ.

Now, if only I could figure out a real time zoom. Right now, in Autocad I have my mouse set up so that if I hit “P” for pan and then right click it gives me a dialog box that offers zoom. Holding the left click zooms real time. If I right click again, I can actually zoom window.

Any ideas on how to duplicate that answer.

The pan idea makes me very happy though as production will definitely increase.

Thank you so much.
