Doing a schedule based off a scope box.

I need to do a schedule of pipe and fittings based off a certain area of a very large project.  I don't want to schedule the whole building just a small area of the building.  We have setup scope boxes for all the areas in the project  and if we could run a schedule that showed us what scope box the item was in or on the flip side showed us what items were in that scope box and nothing more that would work as well.  Anyone done anything like this?

You have to create a pipe/pipe fitting "Text" Parameter and name it like "Scope Box". Once you have the parameter created, you can then assign all the pipe/fittings in the correct "Scope Box" and use the same parameter when doing the schedule. From your schedule you can filter out the pipe/pipe fittings that belongs to other scope boxes and show only those belongs to the scope box that you are creating. The parameter is a text parameter that will appear in the properties box (in the project model) while the pipe/fittings are selected in the model, giving you the option to type the name of the scope box. You can easliy select all the pipes/fittings using window selection and type in the scope box name in that "Scope Box" parameter you have just created.

There is no option in Revit that you can schedule the pipe/fitting directly using your scope boxes that is why you need to create a parameter to make this work and to be able to achieve the schedule that you want.

To start creating the parameter, go to "Manage" from the above menu, click "Project Parameters" and click the "Add" button, a "Parameter Properties" will then appear. Create the parameter like the one shown in the below image and then hit "ok" twice to exit. Click any of the pipe/fitting in the project model and the parameter that you have just created will appear in the "Properties" box. You have to manually type in the scope box but the good thing is you can select the objects all at once and then type in the parameter. Add the same parameter in your pipe/fitting schedule and utilize the "Filter" settings.

Let me know if you have further questions.

1.  Create view.

2. Apply scope box to view.

3. Adjust V/G settings so only those categories you want in the schedule are visible.

3(a). Alternatively, make everything visible so all disciplines can also do this.

4. Window select all elements in view.

5. Fill in value for Scope Box parameter.

There's no way for Revit to read the scope box contents and automatically fill in the parameter value.

Hello
In my project some of the large elements (such as mass, lobby space, or long plumbing) fall into two or more scope boxes.
In this case it would seem to copy / paste and cut the elements for parameterization.
However, I need to update the schedules by new changes.
Haven't found an easy solution yet?

The bad thing about this is you cannot apply to different categories/ types in one operation. You need to isolate columns, walls, floors etc...

Problem with this - it can't select families inside other families (nested families). For example, if you have flange inside other family, when you use select tool will not mark the flange.

Hello,

It is possible make the group, then edit the group and add the nested families
