Technically there is no limit to the number of users, but I wouldn't recommend more than about 5. You'll start getting more ownership errors, save to central times will increase, and people will become irritated.

Hi krishnadevc,

It depends with your office server speed, your machine, and the model size you are wokring on. 1GB server speed can handle 15users working in one model of under 250mb size. All users must have the same specs of machines. In one of our project recently, out of 14 users working in 1 model, one of our engineer joined in to review the model progress. He's using a lower spec machine as he's not a full time modeller but he fixes objects in the model which he thinks needs to be fixed. Meaning he needs to sync his local file to update the changes he made and our experience is that everytime he joined in, each user are getting slower when they tried syncing to central, but things runs smoothly when he was out.

Sync to central is manageable even if you have 10 or more users working in one model at the same time. Users need to use the worksharing monitor properly to avoid errors with the model, they had to be aware not to sync their local file when someone is syncing. The traffic to the server needs to be managed like you are on the road even if you are driving a ferrari. As a multi-task BIM Manager, I still have time to watch the users closely from the worksharing monitor and check them from time to time if they need to sync his/her local file to central. I used to message them thru our office instant messenger to tell them when they need to sync, and when they are not responding I go to their desk right away. When you had a well managed team, less than a minute of syncing to central is achievable, even if there's 15users working at the same time. I will try 16 next time and see if that works.
