You will need to provide the family and explain how you want it to work.

Did you add the parameter to the elemen?

Strangely the parameter works in 3D view but not in floor plan.

Also in the family the 3D parts are set to be visible in all detail levels but in the project they are only visible in Fine detail.

I can't explain that.

It gets weirder.

Floor plan view, the half-tone fitting is not only below the Bottom Range, but should ALSO be below the View Depth.... I can't get it to vanish until we're about 12'-6" below the View Depth.

I couldn't find anything weird inside the nested families like an errant model line....I did note that the socket fitting that was circled in the original image is set to Generic Model instead of Pipe Fitting, but adjusting it doesn't really fix anything.

That family has some more issues, too. It contains a mix of generic models and pipe fitting families. This may be where the visibility issues are coming from, just a theory, not tested. Sweeps were used where extrusions would have sufficed.

I suspect there were some errors created  during the creation of family that may be lingering. It's just a theory but even if I'm wrong about that, it's probably best to reconstruct the family from scratch and test as you go.

Hello,

Unfortunately, this family is overcomplicated, in my opinion; using different categories inside it may be causing your visibility issues, especially if the views are set to any MEP discipline.

I suggest you create this kind of family, avoiding nested families, and if necessary, they must be in the pipe fittings category to avoid visibility issues.
