Underlay gets in the way of tagging features in my model

Working on model with a linked architectural file. Link is pinned. Select pinned disabled. Select underlay disabled.

Elements in the linked file are not selectable, so that is good it is what I want.

But if I execute TG all those elements become valid tag targets and I don't want them to be. I only want to tag things in the local model not the linked model.

is there a solution?

thanks

Try unchecking the "include elements from linked files" in Tag All window.

It is unchecked.

I using TG command to tag only selected items.

I guess just turn off the visibility of that link file @ VG.

That is not a very good solution. Turning off the architectural link takes all the context out of what I am doing. But thanks for the attempt to assist.

May i know what exactly you're tagging? and what is the use of that link file that it needs to be visible during tagging?

The linked file is the architectural model of a building, including furniture. I am tagging electrical devices such as receptacles and data outlets and the furniture sometimes blocks the tagging operation, i.e. TG tries to tag the furniture and not the device. I realize there are ways to turn off the offending items or make other views to allow me to get to what I am trying to tag but really there should be a clean way just to tell Revit not to tag something external.

Hello,

Did you try to tag all by category?

Hiding the undesired category, like furniture, may help, you can use temporary view properties, so you can return to the previous state quickly. I suggest you to create shortcuts to enable and disable this function.

Thanks, but in this case I am not trying to tag all of the elements, just
selected items. I'll try to hide the undesired category but I'm not sure it
is so easy to do that when the category exists in a linked model and not the
host. I'll post back on that.
