Trouble with .ifc files

I am having trouble with .ifc files. I get a silly error whenever I try to open one (shown on the attached JPG), and I have tried a few.

Could you please let me know what the error means? Other people are able to open the same files without error.

I am using Revit 2016, thanks.

In general an error likes this indicates corrupt files. When reading a file it expects more data which it cn not find, indication file corruption.

When you open an ifc file it needs a revit template, thats why te erro on a rte (template) file.

IF you go to IFC options

You get a new window

It mentions the default template for IFC options (here empty). In your case it is probably DefaultUS-Canada.rte.

Try to point it to a different template file and see if that solves the issue. Possibly that template is corrupt.
