Title block images (Logo) are became an external reference after export to CAD

Hi Guys,

While I export the shop drawings from Revit to CAD, all the images (Logo) in the Title Block became an externally referenced object.

Is there any way to keep it inside the CAD drawing? Please advise.

Hello @Radish_G,

Unfortunately, that is not possible.

Images in AutoCAD are always linked in AutoCAD so when exporting from Revit to AutoCAD images are always exported as external references.

Hi @robert.klempau,

But, in AutoCAD, images can be embedded rather than linking.

Hello @Radish_G,

I am only aware of referencing Images not embedding them.

see: Commands for Working with Raster Image Files

Unfortunately, I know no other way then that when Exporting images from Revit that AutoCAD will place them in the External reference list.

Hi @robert.klempau,

I attached a sample ACAD file and few screenshots for your review.

Image-1 Shows the externally referenced element.

Image-2 Shows the Embedded element

Image-3 Shows the result after we move the externally referenced element from its location.

Revit itself cannot embed images. How would you expect it be able to embed images when it export to another format? Keep all the dwgs and images in one folder then they will never lose reference.

After the export from Revit, transform the raster images to ole in the exported CAD files:

- Open the images in Paint, Ctr+A to select all, Ctr+C to copy the image

- Open the CAD file & paste the image then scale it as you need

- Delete the raster images from the xref
