Tag Mechanical Equipment/Mechanical Control Devices with Revit HVAC Zone

I'd like to know if anyone knows if it is possible to include the HVAC zone name as part of the tag for anything else other than HVAC Zones?

I have some coordination views where I place a dummy mechanical control device in zones I have created in Revit. I am able to see what zone they are in on a schedule with the room calculation point on, but I can't seem to add the zone to the mechanical control device tags. Any suggestions? I know can tag both the HVAC zone and the family and move the tags together, but was hoping I could get it to show under one tag.

Image below is using the mechanical control device and tagging the zone and moving the tags together.

You would need to use Dynamo to bring in the HVAC zone name to a shared parameter of the tagged category then use it in a label in the tag family.

Probably what ToanDN said about Dynamo (or some API) is your only option.

But maybe explain what and why you want to accomplish? for example, do you want a thermostat family in a space or zone automatically read what zone it is in? if so, this only will work with devices actually in that zone. A VAV box, for example, could be physically located outside the zone.

FWIW, HVAC zones in Revit don't work well. I was convinced by this article (and the FREE tool they provide) to use spaces and use the Terminal or AHU zone parameter they created. So, whatever you come up with, make sure first the native HVAC zones are actually what you want to use.

I discovered Ideate and it worked perfectly.
