Stop pipe elevation from moving when moving fitting

Hi all.

I know this has sort of been answered in different posts, but maybe not exactly what I am experiencing.

I model all of my sanitary piping with slope. I start with the main and then branch off of that by using Wye 45 degree reducing fittings mostly. The issue is with the branches. If I draw a branch from the main with one of those fittings, and then want to shift that branch over, I take the fitting and pipe and start moving it. The problem is that all the other piping (mains) changes elevations. It appears that the fitting elevation stays while the pipe elevation changes. I was curious if the fitting elevation could follow the pipe? So the pipe stays at its elevation, then when I move the fitting it moves along the slope of the pipe.

Hello,

Usually moving the fitting along a sloped pipe axis in a plan view, usually I use the keyboard arrows, works fine, don´t do it in sections not elevations.

In a section view use the move command and snap to points on the centreline of the main pipe.

If you want to nudge, you need to rotate the section view (rotate the crop region) so that the main pipe is horizontal in the view. Nudging just moves the objects along the X and Y axes of the view.

Or, just rub out the wye and redo it further along. Sometimes redoing is quicker than modifying.

Thanks! I have been removing the wye and putting it back in. Sounds like this is just something that can't be avoided. The fitting will move along the x and y axis's and not along the pipe. Oh well. I'll keep plugging along like I have and may try the section option where I snap to the centerline of the pipe. I have tried using the arrow keys in plan view, but that shifts the entire piping network up and sometimes disconnects something way away because of it.

Thanks for the input!
