Revit doesn’t appear to include any added space types when you export to gbXML. Also, if you rename a default space type, it will be exported under the original default space type name.
How do we add new and custom space types that can be exported with the spaces in the gbXML?

I believe I figured it out, but I will also wait for a Revit official response...
We cannot truly do custom space types for exporting because both Revit and Trace probably import/export according to the gbxml schema found here:
http://www.gbxml.org/schema/6-01/GreenBuildingXML_Ver6.01.xsd#type_spaceTypeEnum
and therefore are "hard-coded" and cannot be altered/added to.

The product feedback page would be a better place for getting an official response from Autodesk.
Hi @wils02
Thanks for your request.
I've asked the product team and waiting to hear back from them for further feedback.

Hi @wils02
I heard back from the product team and they mentioned that this should work to export spaces -
Please see: Export to gbXML Using a Custom Space Type
Can you share a file to test on our end that the 'export' does not occur?

Hi @wils02
I'm checking back again to see if you had a chance to send me a file to test?

No need to send a test file. Revit does NOT export the gbxml correctly, the way I see it, but it is simple to fix.
See the image; it appears Revit does not include the spaceType=".........." element of the gbxml schema for custom space types. Once I added this myself, everything worked fine.
Next steps from you is to see how we remedy this. Can Revit do some sort of hot fix or will we need to wait and hope you guys update for the next version?
