My general application is trying to keep the name/numbers of the spaces in my model up to date with the rooms in a link. I am curious how others manage the space/room name & number coordination dance. I would like have differences between space/room names and numbers identified for easy review.
SNU works fabulous for setup. Things can get a little sticky during updates. One scenario is when a room has a misspelling in the name. Yes, ideally the room will get corrected, but until it does I am trying to develop a method for picking up other name/number changes without bringing over the mistakes too.
My thinking is that once I have my several hundred spaces setup with the SNU, and spelling correct, then if I had something to identify/highlight when a name/number between space/room doesn't match I could just ignore the mistakes and pick up the ones I need without having to look through all 500 spaces.
Another instance I have been exposed to was a model where the rooms only existing in one phase and all the other phases used, and I quote, "dummy tags". So, in this case, I need to know what has changed so that I can update the other phases.
Yes, a lot of the above could be alleviated through communication, but failing that, I am trying to come up with a plan B.
My first thought was to leverage a space schedule, but I could not come up with a way to compare text strings.
I found an add-in that looked handy, but it appears to have been deprecated.
