Sheet Level & Sheet Area = "?"

I have a spool sheet template with some of the same fields/labels that are on a full construction sheet like project name, job #, sheet name & number (on my spool sheet it's just titled spool name & number, but it's still the same label). I have two different labels on my spool sheet that I don't have on full sized sheets Sheet Level (titled "floor") and Sheet Area (titled "Area"). I want those incase I am prefabbing something for a project and it happens to be for the "4th floor" in "Area Z" then the guys can easily see what goes where. I can not figure out how to get the information to show up on those labels, they only show up as a question mark "?".

There is nothing in the properties that allows me to enter in sheet level or sheet area like you would a "Drawn By", the labels are in red so I know that means it wont let me manually enter the label in there, it has to be filled in automatically through project information, but how do I get that information to show up?

Open the family and find out which shared parameters being used for the labels then go back to the project and load them and assign to Sheets category.

@ToanDN I'm probably doing this wrong, but this is what I tried.

Hello @ben,

I think your labels in the family have shared parameters.

They only excist in your family and not in your project.

You can add them to your project parameters and connect them to the Sheet Category.

Goto the Manage Ribbon and select "Project Parameters".

Then Click Add.

click Shared parameter (1) and select your parameter and add it.

then select the Sheet Category (3)

@robert.klempau Ok, I have it added, but I must have done something wrong when adding/making it because it's showing up under the text properties instead of the ID Data in the properties where all the 'auto fill' info is at.

You didn't need to add them again in the family.  I only asked you to find out what they are in the family then add them in project like @robert.klempau has demonstrated.

To put them under proper group, see below:

I was in the project when I tried to add them, they just must have been added to the project already. I switched them to ID Data, but they still came up blank/"?" in the sheet. I reopened the family, clicked edit label, found Sheet Level, clicked Edit Family Properties, when it opens up it's listed as a Text Parameter and it's grayed out and wont let me change it to a ID Data Parameter.

You are still look at the Family dialog.  Open the project > Manage > Project parameters: select the one you need to change group, Modify button to bring up the next dialog, then click on the bottom right drop down and select Identity Data.

Don't be confused between Type of parameter (Text, Length, Area, etc...) with Parameter groups.  They are different things altogether.

No, I am in the project. I have the parameter set to ID Data in the project. The info is filled out in the properties pallet, but it is still blank on the sheet or shows up as a ? if I click on the titleblock. Also, I'm not sure what the "Values are aligned per group type" and "Values can vary by group instance" options do.

So the placing the parameters in the right group is taken care of.  Ignore the Value aligned or vary option, keep it as is.

Now, back to why the title block is still showing ? for the labels.  Did you use the same shared parameters from the same shared parameters file that you revealed when inspecting the title block family?  I would check that again.

I have no idea how to check that.

Screw that.  Just do it the other way.  Edit the family, edit each label, remove the old entry (see pic 1), bring in the same shared parameter used in the project (pic 2), then add it to the label list.  Repeat.

This is the part that was confusing me. I was getting mixed up between group and type. It was ID Data group, but text type.

Thank you for your help guys!
