Sewer pump station

Hi all

We are looking into Revit for sewer and water pump stations and possibly a large wastewater treatment plant that we have to design.

Attached are some drawings of a sewer pump station that I have done with AutoCAD. The drawings are very detailed.  Creating the model of the concrete structure with Revit won't be a problem.

My question is it possible to create all the mechanical pipework, and the schedule of fittings with Revit?

Have someone completed a large pump station with Revit that can advise?

Thanks in advance

I have no experience with pump stations.

Yes, Revit can do this. With proper designed families you can create a 3d model of you pump station and then create the plan/section views.

With proper designed families you can create detailed models and create the schedules.

Some remarks:

-Always consider the what kind off modeling detail is needed More details means larger files and bigger hit on Revit performance.

This will become especially relevant in large projects.

-Revit can not draw lines smaller than 0.8 mm length.

-Revit can link/import CAD drawings. In the transition period you can use these to get up to speed more quickly. Useful for things like details

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Thanks Louis! (Dankie!)

Most of our projects are Civil 3D based, but some might/will be completed in Revit.

I guess if its supposed to be a detailed station I would go with inventor or other 3D CAD, I think in terms of time vs benefit. Revit is over complex for this kind of assembly (just an opinion)

Hi Willie,

Have you designed the pumping stations in Revit or you preference is use of another software? I am trying to find the most appropriate Autodesk software for design and drafting of the sewer pumping stations?

Can you please share your experience?

Thank you.

Hi

I have only recently started using Revit, and are now busy re-drawing a Sludge Reactor.  Hopefully I will do a pump station of some sorts next year.  Attached are a one of a drawing of the Sludge Reactor that I am modelling in Revit.  I am only modelling the concrete structure for now.  There are so much to learn with Revit.

Hope it helps.

Hi @Anonymous I am doing the exact same thing... Looking into Revit for SPS and Water Treatment Plants. May I ask how did it go? Did you successfully use Revit for this?

Hi @greg.youngCXLLN

I ended up not doing it in not too much detail, but I have also left the company anyway

I did find this channel on YouTube to be inspirational.

Thanks @williewilbers6534 , I think I might be leaning toward a combination of Revit and Plant 3D.

Cheers

@williewilbers6534 looks like a lot of info there. Do you speak the language? Or is there an option to translate somewhere?

Hello

I have tried to model a pumpstation in Revit however I was not able to
finish the modelling. One of the design team members used Autodesk Inventor
for the pumpstation package design and I think it is a better package for
civil mechanical works.

Cheers,
