Set Up Electrical System

I have been trying to get Revit to place a power panel, receptacles, and switches in Revit, and cannot get any of it to connect together.  Does anyone know how to step by step this process?

I need to do the following, if you know of pre or post steps, please give me a heads up:

1.  Define voltages (I did this)

2.  Define distribution system (I did this but maybe someone knows something better)

3.  Place a power panel

4.  Place a receptacle

5.  Make receptacle become a circuit

I've followed some set of garbage instructions through the help, nothing works, and still I'm unable to find an answer.

What did you use for a project template?  I just made a project using the default electrical template that revit has.

It already has the voltages and distribution systems defined (at least for United States Voltages and systems.)

I did this:

   1.  start a new project, and select the electrical template

   2.  placed a wall, and placed a panel on the wall

   3.  placed a duplex receptacle, again, on the wall

4..select the receptacle and hit the "Create Systems - Power" button,

   5.  Hit select panel and picked the panel.

   6.  added a home run to the outlet, and placed a tag.

It took much longer to type it that to do it.  Its very easy if you start with the electrical template.

Then if you still need to use the file you stated, you can compare the voltages, the distribution systems, and the families and see what is different in your file.

I got it happening, thanks for the help!  I have a new little issue that popped up as well, on my floor plan, I am needing it to display as the electrical symbols vs the plate and box in the wall.  Is there a setting somewhere to make this happen?

You just should change the detail level. For example: from Fine to Medium

Thanks!  Super helpful!  I'm navigating my way through my first Revit project and keep getting stuck by all these little tiny items that aren't a big deal, but if you're not accustomed to operating the software, they can become a big deal.
