Hello Revit users,
Thank you for stopping by.
I have worksets for IFC linked models,
Is there a way to set a color to a workset?
For example I have a workset for plumbing IFC model that comes from the plumbing technician, I would like to set a green color to his IFC, to distinguish it from ducts work.
also to do the same to electricity IFC workset.
The architect asks for that, and generaly revit makes IFC colors black lined, no way to override it.
If its not possible to colorcode a workset that contain IFC, is there any other way to set a color to an IFC in plan view?
Thank you for your time.

It is not that straightforward. The issue is that the workset (parameter) is coupled to the linked file itself but not directly to the elements in the linked file.
What you miight do is he following:
-Link the IFC into Revit (e.g. project.ifc). Revit converts the IFC to a rvt file (project.ifc.rvt) and links in that file.
-Open the rvt file (project.ifc.rvt) with the IFC in there. In different session or first unload from the host,
-In that file use graphics overrides to set the color of the different elements in one or more views.
-Check that now all elements have the desired colour (e.g green)
-Save
-Reload in the original host file
-In a view go to graphics overrides and go to tab Revit links (where project.ifc should be visible)
-Set the Display settings to "by linked view"
-On Basics tab of the display settings set the Linked View to one of the views you have changed to the green colour
Your IFC model should now show the green colour

Hello
I wish you are good
from object style you can override your IFC File with color u need. or u can select the any element u need to override and press override by category.
Hello,
I appreciate the time you took answering and solving this issue,
I will try to follow up.
we receive 3 IFC every week to update "Plumbing, Elec, and Arch", I am not sure that I will have the time to do that each week to 3 IFCs in each level "plan view".
Thank you again, and have a great day.
I do not think you have to do all that work every week.
The first time you receive the IFC (e.g. project1.ifc) you link it into your Revit project (e.g. Project A.rvt). As mentioned then Revit makes a rvt file out of it (project1.ifc.rvt). This file you open and modify the views to create the (green) color.
The next time you receive the new ifc (e.g project1a.ifc), rename it to project1.ifc and overwrite the old one.
When you now open your project (Project A.rvt) revit should show the new updated IFC still with the green color.
So only overwriting of the original IFC should be needed. You have to check to see if I am right.
