Schedule Populating in Schedule view but not on Sheets

We use schedules to ensure all disciplines match titleblock information.  These schedules populate data from linked models.  When we updated to Revit 2018, my schedules no longer worked on the sheet view.  Thankfully, I can see the data if I open the individual schedule views, but we have several schedules on one sheet.  This makes opening each individual schedule annoying.  This issue is only on my computer; my coworkers can still see the schedule data from the sheet view on their computers.  The pictures below show my issue.  Any help would be appreciated.Data is in the scheduleData is in the schedule

Hi, dsfoote,

I'm Judy from the Revit Technical Support team, and I'll be happy to help you out. Since the problem of the schedule data not showing up only happens on your computer, we can tell that the issue is not with the model, so I have a few suggestions you can try that might help.

1. First, do you always make a new local each time you open the model? Doing so is a best practice which can help keep the central model in good health. Any errors in your local will be synced and re-synced into the central model, so making a new local each time can help avoid this.

2. If the model hasn't been audited in a while, put a check in the Audit box in the lower-left corner of the Open dialog box. It will tell you it will take a long time but it won't take significantly longer than opening the model in most cases (unless there's an underlying issue with the model).

3. Sometimes a large amount of data in the temp folder can cause odd behavior in Revit. You might try emptying the temp folder to see if that clears the issue:

  1. If you are currently working in Revit, sync, relinquish and close all sessions of Revit.
  2. In the Windows search box, type %temp%. This will open the temp folder. Select all and delete everything in the folder, but not the folder itself. (Choose "skip" for all items that can't be deleted.)
  3. Empty the recycle bin.
  4. Reboot your computer.

Let me know if this helps! If not, I'll follow up and troubleshoot further.

Best,

Judy,

Thank you for your advice.  I am unable to check the "Create New Local" (see screenshot below where that option is grayed out); does this have something to do with working through BIM 360 Document Management?  I know my computer creates local backups but that may only be when I save or Sync to Central.

I followed your instructions for both #2 and #3.  Thank you for telling me about the temp folder.  I knew how to find my backups, but I didn't know of that folder.

Unfortunately, the data is still not populating unless I click into the schedule view.Annotation 2019-07-31 082106.jpg

Hi, dsfoote,

When you open a BIM 360 model from within Revit, the "create new local" box will be grayed out because when working in a cloud model, it's ONLY possible to create a new local (you can't accidentally or on purpose open the central model itself, as you could with file-based worksharing. You hadn't mentioned that this was a BIM 360 Design model, so I didn't know that.

Do you have all the updates for Revit 2018 installed? There's a required security update that must be installed by Monday August 3 in order for you to maintain access to cloud services. Autodesk Transport Layer Security updates require Revit security fix contains very important information that all customers need to be aware of.

Also see

Transport Layer Security (TLS): Updates required to maintain software access.

and

Revit Errors associated with missing Transport Layer Security (TLS) updates

If you've got the updates installed and are still seeing the problem, please attach the following to this discussion (or let me know if you prefer to send them privately and I'll set up a folder for you):

1. A Screencast video showing the steps you are taking. (Screencast is a free Autodesk plugin that works with most of our software. After installing, be sure to close Revit and reopen so you can see the plugin in the ribbon.)

2. a journal file. Here's how to collect it: Please open a new session of Revit, then open the model as you usually do, and recreate the problem. Then go to

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2018\Journals (substituting your username where shown) and find the journal.####.txt file with the highest number.

3. your System Information file: to collect this, type msinfo32 into the Windows search box; when the file opens, save it to your desktop.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Judy_S

Judy,

I checked and I do have all the updates installed.  I do believe it would be easier if you could set up a folder for me to send privately.  Thanks.

I’m experiencing a common issue with Revit versions 2023.1 and 2025.3.

I’m working on creating a template, and in both versions, the items appear in the schedule view but are not visible on the sheet.

So far, I have:

  • Installed all updates.
  • Tried auditing the file when opening.
  • Manually cleaning the temporary files.

At one point, I added some design options and later accepted the primary. This issue might be related to that.

Does anyone have experience with this or suggestions for resolving it?

I'm also experiencing the same issue with Revit 2023. I have a wall-type schedule that populates correctly, but when inserted on a sheet, the information is missing (only the header shows).

I've found the solution. Got the tip from another threads on this remark but did not get anywhere until I realised that I had a view template applied per type of schedule. One important thing is that this VT was created from view to fully control the fields, filters, etc. and it is easier to automate same-type schedules creation.

I'll go step by step, it's pretty easy to solve it:

  1. The schedule is not showing any data on the sheet, this schedule has a VT applied (it was created exclusively from the schedule view, this is, once the schedule was arranged as I needed, I created the VT)gabyELVYA_0-1734727714238.png

  2. Remove the VT and leave: None. It still doesn't show anything, let's go to that. gabyELVYA_3-1734727969386.png

  3. Open Visibility Graphics, and go to Filters. You will see that the Filter by sheet is checked, in my case I did not notice this until I deactivated the VT and went to look for the Filter by sheet option that DISAPPEARS when you apply a Vew Template. So, in case you applied a VT that actually had this checked originally or not, you need to do this to allow the schedule to show the populated data on the sheet it is inserted.gabyELVYA_4-1734728191615.png
  4. Once you unchecked the Filter by sheet option, then OK, you will see all the schedule's data on the sheet. YayyygabyELVYA_5-1734728253081.png

  5. Then, in case you use VT to control and automate, go ahead and apply the original View Template you had. The schedule will keep the setting on the Filter by sheet option unchecked and you'll be able to keep on using VTs.gabyELVYA_6-1734728392209.png

I'm working in Revit 2023.

Hope it helps!
