Saving duct element whilst converting to fabrication parts

Hi There,

I am a new user, having used Revit for a couple of months now.

I trying to find a workflow to preserve ducts and pipes created in the design phase of a project after I have converted the elements to Fabrication parts.

I want this so that I still have access to the design information (flow rates, pressure drop ect) after i have converted them to fab parts.

Is there a good way to do this, I tried to using Phases with a design and a Fabrication phase but got a bit lost. I was also thinking maybe using workset but am unsure.

Looking for some guidance, no doubt there is a good way to do this.

Just archive the project before converting.

I would think that phases should work if you copy everything from your design phase then paste to same place in fabrication phase then set the fabrication views to Show New so that you don’t see the design stuff.

Or as @RobDraw says keep separate design and fabrication models.
