hi

i'm creating a new family of a foot which will be included in another family

i'm using reference plane to rotate my foot as i did it in another family and it woirks very well (even with a 0° angle!!)

the foot should be bind to a reference line but when i change angle it fauiled... and i don't know why....

i'd lmike to mode the foot according to the 2 refelrence line

cn you tell me why the constraints are not satisfied??

grrr what's reaaly boring is that on the other family i hadn't any issue!!! grrrr

Hi Iain

well, Fabio solution works but "mine" (that i read somewhere on the web) works with 0 degree

the foot need to be rotate but need to be to a length from the center of the family and i didn't succeed

... work on progress..

well i found a solution

the hosted family wasn't "work plane based" but was "always vertical" I check and uncheck these properties and now that's working!! 🙂

I looked into the family a bit and wanted to see if I could get it to rotate through -360° to 360° without breaking and without using Trig Equations. I think I succeeded.

I moved the Radial parameter down one nested level and created a profile for the column sweep. Then I had to add a hidden Circle to keep the entire nested family have its centroid at the origin.

thanks for the fun family problem.

Hello,

If you use profiles to create the solids, you can use vertical offset, horizontal offset, and rotation angle in the sweeps
