What exactly is RevitWorker.exe?  Why does it start randomly? and why does it kill my machine performance?  Can it be turned off?

Hello,

RevitWorker is a secondary process that has been added to Revit.  We are moving various features to this process.  Color fills and volume calculations are examples of features that have been moved so far.  This allows modifications to process in the background while the user continues to work.

Can you give more detail on when you are seeing this kill your machine performance?

Thanks,

Eric

Export to DWF/DWFx: To significantly reduce processing time when exporting views/sheets to multiple DWF or DWFx files, the software now uses several RevitWorker processes. For export to DWF or DWFx, you can select one or more views and sheets. When you export multiple views/sheets to multiple output files, the software uses additional worker processes to perform the export work using multiple threads. As a result, the DWF export operation finishes more quickly. (The Revit software is unavailable to perform other work until the export operation completes.)

I wish I could give more details. It happens 3-4 times a week. I am usually in Revit 7-9 hours a day.  My machine will randomly lock up.  I will look at all processes running and see RevitWorker.exe. As soon as I kill that process, my machine will instantly run awesome again. We have noticed this on about 10-15 machines in the office. I have tried to pinpoint and compare machine specifics (OS, hardware, etc.).  I have not found anything consistant.  Most machines are running Windows 7 or 8.  I will get more feedback from other users in the office and add details when I hear back.  We do switch volume calculations to area only as a standard.  Then when we do need them we switch it back.

Thanks,

Thanks dzanta, I have seen that.  This usually happens not during an export or print.

Thanks for the response!

Hi: Would mind explain to me how to do that "We do switch volume calculations to area only as a standard.  Then when we do need them we switch it back. "

The revit worker black screen just started showing on my machine. It appears now when trying to open a revit file by double clicking on the file name. Both project files and family files will invoke the terminal screen. Two warning boxes will appear noting "the parameter is incorrect" then revitworker crashes.

This never appeared before and I have never had problems double clicking and opening a revit file before.

I am guessing an update is causing this. I am still on the 2019 version, but will update to 2020 and see if the problem goes away.

I can still open files the old fashion way by using the open files commands inside revit.
