Revit Pipe Dimensions Formula

Hi,

If someone could please help?

I am trying to add a simple formula for pipe length which includes pipe deductions for fire pipes.  I would like this formula "Revit Pipe Length +(deduction*2)=Pipe Length Total"   added into a tag. I could modify my pipe fittings but that is very complicated.   Please see attachment for a better understanding.

Regards,

Paul

I don't see a way to automate this in a tag...but you can do it in a schedule.

How can I modify my pipe fittings family? By adding a formula in the family without complicating it.

I managed to pull something off by editing my fitting family...

I edited the lookup table by adding deductions as "A" but the problem I have is trying to connect "A"" to pipe connector diameter so that my parameter dimension A adjusts according to the change in diameter. Any ideas would be much appropriated.   Please see attached.

Hello CADArmor,

Your idea is the best solution, actually I have already adopted the same solution,

Some points to have in mind, if you don´t create voids for the pipe, if you run clash detection in Revit you will get plenty of false collisions, some clearance is better.

I am sharing a bend for you to study.

Hi Fabiosota,

Thank you for your response and family.

I modeled my deduction within my fittings as a solid and didn't find a clash within Revit 2014. Do you know if Navisworks will pick it up as a clash? Otherwise I will have to model in the void to prevent clashes. attached is an example of a coupling family using the same method.

Hello,

I can´t tell you if this will cause you clashes in Navisworks, because, we we found out the problem was in Revit 2015, and in TeklaBIM Sight that were our clash detection tool at the time.

I really don´t know how such families behave in Revit 2016 and 2017, because we have only families with voids as pipe fittings.

Sorry not being able to reply to you.
