Revit MEP - Hidden lines not showing on some objects

Hi

I would like all hidden lines to be visible; however, in some areas—particularly where ducts and other objects overlap—the hidden lines are not displaying as expected. My hidden line setting is currently set to "By Discipline."

Please see the attached example:

  • The green cloud highlights where hidden lines are showing correctly.

  • The red cloud indicates where hidden lines should be visible but are not.

Kindly advise on how to resolve this.

Hidden lines are working for you which leads me to try to figure what is different about those elements where they don't show. There are a few possibilities that I can think of but it would be better for you to post the model than for me to make random guesses.

I agree with @RSomppi .

See my orange markups. Some show properly, some don't.

Maybe a phase graphic override or something?

Upload your file please.

i see this all the time in my electrical drawings. The family has Symbolic lines, and the 3D elements are off in Plan Views. if there is no 3D object displayed, there is nothing to show hidden under.

  • Edit the family
  • Go to the Ref Level  view
  • See if there are any "lines" in the view
    • These are often placed to show the outline of the element.
  • Select the 3D object in the family
  • Make sure the visibility settings are set to display.

I've just had to deal with this for another display issue with a few 3rd party families. Seems likely that's what is happening.

@hmunsell @RSomppi The only thing about that is that L6.1 and L7.1 look like the same family(?) but one hides and the other doesn't.

@ameliaTX3VX please upload your file if you still want an answer to this.

@hmunsell @RSomppi good point.... We'll need to see the family/model 🙂.

I see that you have accepted a solution for this problem.

For the benefit of other people who might have a similar problem could you confirm what steps you took to solve your issue and maybe post some updated screenshots showing the result?

I'm particularly interested to know why L6.1 and L7.1 were displaying differently when they appeared, from your screenshot, to both be the same family.
