Has anyone out there tried the new Fabrication in Revit 2016 yet?

it’s basically the old CADDuct interface & way of working in the Revit environment I don’t have the time to go through all the negatives this brings up but would like to know if anyone can see any positives with this tool as I can’t see any!

Tried the update today. Couldn't agree with you more Chris. Was excited to see that they've finally moved to integrate CADDuct into Revit MEP but was very disappointed with the functionality as it currently stands. Coming from a fabrication/construction point of view this update, in its current form, is completely useless. The fact that you cant do something as simple as convert the MEP duct into fabrication pieces is a huge oversight, unless that's how they were expecting it to function. Also cant see any systems or airflows within the fab 'families'. As you say this update is like having CADDuct operating within revit but still with no interface between the two. Also no export to .MAJ capability which to me is the whole purpose of integrating fabrication into the software.

Struggling to find any postives at this stage, apart from this being a step, albeit a delayed one, in the right direction. Hopefully they resolve issues by the next iteration of the package.

I dont think its a step in the right direction at all its miles away from what we need, BIM is all about once sorce of info why lose all the data rich rfa's (systems, pressure drops and all the rest) it would be so much easier if they just gave us rfa's of the content and scrap itm's ASAP.

I really hope in 2017 they drop this mistake from Revit or its going to cost us all in extra time and money on every project we do!!!!!

See below snip from the latest AUGI publication showing just how bad theses Fabrication parts are, to draw a simple L shape bit of duct with 2 sizes takes 7 steps in native revit rfa's for the same thing using the itm's its a 19 step process! Yes thats nearly 3x longer to draw a very small & simple bit of duct!!!!!

Autodesk if your reading this please please please stop wasting development time & money on these useless itm's. Just get rid of itm's and give us the native rfa's that will actually be useful
