Revit Interoperability Tools for Cobie Issue

This is a common query for many of us who are doing Cobie using Revit Interoperability tools. After incorporating Asset information into each maintainable object in the model, we have to export the Cobie sheet in Revit.

This is a common finding that the total elements do not match with extracted Cobie sheet components whereas in Revit the Cobie sheet shows correctly.   Does anyone have any idea why these differences in the total number of Cobie elements do not match after exporting the Excel sheet?

Just for clarification, the schedules in your Revit model have nothing to do with what elements get exported to Excel when using the COBie Extension. The schedules in the Revit model are there for reference internally, and can be manipulated like any other Revit schedule with filters, hiding rows, etc.

Usually, and ideally, they do match, but I have seen situations where it made sense to temporarily change the settings in the Revit schedule to make some modifications without impacting the export.

Some settings to look at that often impact what is exported to the Excel spreadsheet when you run Create Spreadsheet:

  • The COBie and COBie.Type checkboxes
  • The Components in Systems toggle on Setup >Systems
  • The Include Components setting on Setup > Systems

Thank you for your reply on this.

Example: Mechanical Cobie export elements total count and element exist in Revit file is not matching for a large project. This is a common issue while using Cobie Extension export.

Usually, it should match, and we are only seeing the discrepancies in large projects.

Let's get some more thought and any appropriate way of overcoming this.
