Revit Families Guide - Where I can find it?

Hi, I am mechanical engineer doing revit modelling for a few years. I know a in-depth knowledge of family editing. But I'm not very satisfied with the out of box duct fitting families in the built-in library. So I'm trying to build my own ones (for example a transition to be more flexible).

It looks like a resource "Revit Families Guide" or "Revit MEP Family Editor Tutorial"would provide a very fundamental information ( like why duct connector has to be placed on a particular plane....).

Does anyone know where I can find it?

Any clue is appreciated!

Hi @Anonymous,

You can always check Autodesk University classes, there are great videos explaining the step by step to create MEP families as well as standards, best practices, etc

If this helped solve your problem please mark it as solution, so other users can get this solutions as well.

Hello @Anonymous,

Autodesk University is an amazing Resource but it is Advanced content. If you want a step by step you can use Cadlearning.

My Opinion about fitting families is that it is hard to make it more flexible using revit only you should use DYNAMO to make it just as you want.

Thanks

Hello,

I have made a MEP fitting course for Pluralsight, it covers the basic ones, but I believe you can understand the other fittings behavior.
