Why does revit change fittings when i dont want it to?

sagnewYUXLR_0-1666108782809.png

when i join the pipes together it deletes the fitting to change it for a flange

it also deletes the gasket i have between the fitting and the flange as well.

only seems to be an issue when modelling in section view as well

what are your routing preferences set to? if it is being told to use a flange, it will place them at every pipe end when there connected.

routing prefs are setup to show both the a flange and the fitting which is also a type of flange fitting.

if i try to change to have no flange when i join it to the flanged tee then it doesn't bring a flange in with that.

some places i want the normal flange other items i want the flexlock flange. when i join them together i want one side to be flex lock and one side to normal flange why is this so difficult to achieve?

if there both categorized as "flange" then you should be able to select the one after its placed and change the type to the flexlock flange

Unfortunately that deletes the gasket between the fitting when that happens

a gasket isn't part of the Routing Preferences. is it part of one of the flange families or is it placed separately?

hi the gasket is placed manually.

is there away i can add it to routing prefs so it comes in at each joint?

we are using manufacturers content and when i try to add them to the families I get a connector disconnect when i try to turn one of them off on one of the fittings (i want a 3mm gap and one gasket not a 6mm gap and 2 gaskets)

have you tried making the gasket as a Pipe Accessory? you would place it like you would a valve, and if your pipe type is set up properly, it will place the flanges on either side or the gasket "accessory" and then you can change the flange type as needed.

We don't usually model to that level of detail in my office 😊, but this is a quick example of how it would work.
