Revit 2026 - attenuator (sometimes called a slencer)

Hello

Have just started using Revit 2026 and want to place an attenuator.

Have downloaded the UK MEP catalogue and can't find and attenuator.

It should be in the Duct Accessories family I would have thought. But there none there.

Have checked all the other MECH/HVAC/Duct related families and still can't find an attenuator, or silencer.

Am I missing something here? Can't believe that such an item is not included by default

I've always just created my own families for this.

There should be a silencer family in Mechanical > MEP > Air Side Components > Air Handling Units but its basically a box with some splitters in it. No real data attached to it such as insertion losses etc.

These components are, in my opinion, intended to be nested into a composite AHU family.

You could however open the silencer family, re-categorise it as a Duct Accessory and re-save it under another name.

The other possible source would be manufacturers.

It may seem like something common to you but, in the grand scheme of things, they are not that common. I just checked the 2024 library and don't see any. Revit's library has never been all inclusive. Some uncommon items are not included.

Silencers replace core components of a duct system (Elbows, Straight Lengths, Offsets, AHU Plenums, etc.). 

This also means that they are generally straightforward to create via editing an existing base family.

Revit doesn't contain Octave Band parameters by default either, so even if a silencer family were to exist the most you would have been able to get from it would be geometry and a parameter field to place air pressure drop.

As I said, a silencer family does exist in the UK library in the location that I gave earlier but I don't think its particularly good and you could re-create your own tailor made version in a few minutes.
