I worked with revit 2020, 2021, 2023 - I didn't have an issue then I save project doesn't open anymore.

In Revit 2024 this is become a common thing. I save file after I finish work. Next day I want to continue work - it doesn't open. It says corrupeted and this thing random happening. Even I don't know who causes.

Hours work gone.

Yes, 2024 is having issues with upgraded projects. Not hearing anything about projects started fresh with 2024.

Have you done any investigation into your issue before blaming the program?

Why don't you start with asking questions before playing the blame game? That's what this forum is about.

If you only want to spout off, try Product Feedback.

Can someone explain why Revit doesn't open a particular template file? I recovered files a week ago, and it have the same issue. Everything worked fine until 18:00 today.  Open the template file 10 times, and I saved it 20 times. Everything worked fine. When I come home, I can't open it anymore. I can't open existing project from a template file. The template worked fine until I was at work. I didn't have issues previous days or weeks.

I tested at home, and I tested on Cloud PC. I tested it on the local drive. I tested on Autodesk Doc and on one drive. Basically, it refuses to open template files or projects made from the same template.

I recovered 10 times the version until last week. Still same issue

Eventually, I back to the office, and I have the same issue in the office as well.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

That sounds like an autodesk support ticket. The only time that i have corrupted files, is when the project is shared and one or more users c: drive is near capacity and cannot syncronise everything is requires. Yes I know its delta information.

The oddity for you is you are referring to templates, Iain Savage mentioned about upgrading issues.

Have you tried an out of the box template and can replicate the issue?

Open windows type %tmp% and clear out shift delete everything that windows allows you. Some files are in use, just skip these.

Ensure that there is enough storage space on your machines. try those and if its still corrupting and the file isnt on a cloud sync'd folder, i.e. onedrive. Report it to Autodesk.

I tried.

It drives me crazy. Use the file today until 18:00 and before, and last week. It worked fine. I even recovered 20 versions back and still had the same issue. How is it possible to happen like that?

If someone has time, can you try on your side?

One is the latest version and another one was weeks ago.

One thing I can't figurout how revit doesn't open project I made previously from that template. If template file is corrupted which is fine. But I can't open older projects anymore made from this template. Something is not right with Revit.

Did you press F1 as suggested in the error warning and if so what did it tell you?

Help suggests that the problem is usually caused by third part add-ins.

Hi Rob,

I Have 2024.1 installed. All files open fine, I can work draw, create views save and reopen with no issues. I have limited addins for this project, mainly DiRoots and BIM Interoperabilty Tools. I do get a warning when opening the file which is stating that your schema for the BIM Interoperbility tool is either newer or older than mine. This wouldnt cause any issues.

You could try and disable your addins to see if there's a conflict there. Either Diroots tool DiRoots App Manager | Install/Update Apps & enable/disable Revit addins or manually... How to disable add-ons for Revit (autodesk.com)

Is this limited to just you on one project or multiple files?

If this is just effecting you and multiple projects, you may have to consider a clean reinstall but that would be my last option if all else fails.

Thank you so much for testing and giving great news. I did manage to run by doing Audit Mode.

I was trying to make this project file very smart without touching programming. But it was involved a lot parameters and so on. Eventually I will move everything to programming so I am not need project file for Elevations.
