Revit 2023 Can Delete Pinned Links

See attached video. The arch link appears to be pinned, though the ribbon buttons are greyed out, but I can still delete it. Yes there is a warning and I don't want to get off topic with thoughts on Revit warnings, but this should not be possible.

This doesn't happen for me.

I only get the warnings if I unpin the link first.

Are you on a workshared model? I am working through BIM 360.

Not really understanding your problem. Are you upset because you found a way to delete a pinned object that doesn't appear to have the option to pin or unpin? I've had stuff happen to pinned objects that were unexpected. Pins are weak. Maybe that's why they didn't choose the word "locked" as the name of the function...

The warning says the object is pinned, but unlike the typical warning a user would expect this one lets you proceed it just says "Pinned objects deleted." and the link is deleted if you don't hit cancel (this warning will likely be buried behind a few others and not obvious). The typical warning does not let you proceed: "Pinned objects were not deleted. To delete them, unpin them before using delete."

I think this is unintended behavior, it does not happen in previous versions. Regardless of the semantics of what they chose to call it the pin function should prevent elements from being deleted.

You didn't answer my question. I work in cloud models almost exclusively and my buttons are not greyed out. What you are describing with the buttons doesn't make sense.

Why are the buttons greyed out?

Is the selection nested?

It appears that a link that is using shared coordinates cannot be pinned. That warning is probably not referring to the link.

The icon floating on the selected link shows a pin and when I disable "select pinned objects" I can't select it, so this suggests to me it is pinned. The link is my only selection when this message comes up I don't think it can be referencing anything else.

This issue does not happen in other versions of Revit I have used all with workshared links.

Maybe it's pinned because of being on shared coordinates, not by the pinning tool. After I acquire shared coordinates, I cannot pin or unpin the link.

The message can be referencing objects hosted to the link. This is what I'm seeing when I try to replicate your "issue".

We use shared coordinates on our projects and I just tested it in a 2021 model. I can pin/unpin each linked model. (I don't have a 2023 model open to test it on right now)

I verified my findings before posting. I will check again tomorrow to see if something else is contributing to this behavior which mimics what the OP is describing.
