REVIT 2020 - Solid fill Filter not working for generic model in mechanical view

The filter we have has stopped working mysteriously. It worked in another model same settings. We are trying to apply a solid fill to a generic model in a mechanical view. Although the element comes out transparent and halftone. Have exhausted all avenues to solve the issue. Refer to snap shots below for visual of what I am talking about.

Is the view in Wireframe?

The view is set to Hidden Line. Does not make any difference what visual style you use the filter is not working.

We actually fixed it temporarily by turning of one of the links and the filter seems to work. Not sure why that link is a problem.

Could you please expand a bit on the solution? We have links with specialist equipment (instrument washers, ultrasonic washers etc.) modeled on the "generic models" category and cannot apply any coloured filters to it.

Currently having the exact same issue, I get the lines to change color but cannot get it as a solid fill.

Because MEP discipline views treat generic models as underlay.  Change the family to a MEP category then you can see color fills.

Thank you kindly, Tried it and it works 100%. I think i will need to still find a work around to this based on my company standards though.
