Revit 2018 - Linked Coordination Model (NWD) not visible in section views?

The NWD shows up fine in plan view and 3D views, but is not visible in any section views. I do have it turned on in the view. Is there somewhere else in VG to control this visibility, outside of the limited options available on the Coordination Model tab?

Hi @DavidThirlwell ,

I know this post is from 2 years ago, but would you be able to describe what you ended up doing to resolve this issue? I am literally facing the exact same problem at the moment - needing to show shear wall penetrations in elevation views and the coordination model not showing up unless I increase the clipping distance (which as you mention is not what I want). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @lucas.harris

I know this post is from a year ago, but would you be able to describe what you ended up doing to resolve this issue? I am literally facing the exact same problem as well - needing to show shear wall penetrations in elevation views and the coordination model not showing up unless I increase the clipping distance (which as you mention is not what I want). I'm also using Revit 2019. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have not gone back and revisited using NWC in Revit, When I have time will see if 2020 has any improvements.
Was pretty excited about potential at the time but disappointed with the result

Unfortunately 2020 doesn't work any better, coordination models still don't display correctly in sections. Very frustrating to have this ability to link in content but not be able to use it.

By coincidence a colleague has just had a similar problem but in 2021.

His model displayed okay in 2020 but when he upgraded to 2021 the NWD link wouldn’t appear in sections.

After reading this post and a bit of trial & error I’ve found that changing the clipping setting from “clip with line” to “clip without line” made the NWD visible.

Not sure if that works for other software versions.

Seem i have answer for this isssue.Problem not belong to revit,it belong to NWD file. You can fix by open NWD file with naviswork manager-enable section-mode (choose box)-scale( pull to make lager box around project)-and save.Reload that NWD file in revit coodination model.Capture 0001.pngCapture 5.PNG

I know this might be a little late, but I have stumbled across what might be a solution for some people who have updated Revit and still experience this issue.

In a section or plan view, go to your Visual Style dropdown menu, and select Realistic

Not sure if this will work for everyone, but it worked for me and I hope this helps someone still experiencing this issue.

Thanks for this, I had a similar issue with an exported-to-CAD Rhino model some months ago and this was the solution I found at the time. Otherwise wasn't showing.

Wish I knew about this years before. Had a waterpark slide stairwell completely sent to us as CAD vector graphics and had to show floor drains at each platform. In order to get the view to not show the CAD beyond the clip plane, I had to make individual 3D views with cropped section boxes. Your solution would have resolved that perfectly.

1. Check the discipline in Graphics

2.Check your View range, if no element from your coordination is inside the range it won't show up.

3. Check scope boxes

4. check if you have show coordination model in this view option ticked marked

5. sometimes when it is not placed on right locations, turning off crop view might help as well

6. check which workset you linked that in and make sure it is set to visible.

7. Make sure you are not using any view templates

I Hope this will solve your query.

I was having the same problem NWD visible in floor plan and 3D Views but not visible in Section Views. What I found is that the properties the phase filter has to be set to show all & the phase needs to be set to New Construction. Everything should be visible after you adjust this setting

You really should start a separate thread.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Adding one more 'solution' to the mix. For us, we set the section view Far Clipping to Clip without line and the nwd shows up fine.
