I have a few questions regarding installation of Revit 2018 using a deployment.
1. If I install Revit on a computer using a deployment, can I later apply updates to Revit using a different deployment?
2. If I install Revit on a computer thru the flash drive from Autodesk, can I later apply updates using a deployment?
I need to create the deployments for the different departments in my company, but we need to get going on a project in 2018 ASAP. I'm hoping I can create a "generic" deployment to get everyone going and then setup the unique department settings later on.

ADSK changed the deployments back in 2016, that allows you to add updates to that deployment. You can certainly create a deployment for now, and then use the tools to modify that deployment and add the updates. Rolling out the deployment to all staff, including those who have had 2018 installed will only install the updates on the latter but install everything on the new users.
Hope that makes sense.
