Remove family types without removing double used parameters

Hello everybody,

I do have a family with a lot of family types and also a lot of parameters/ text/ lines/ dimensions/ etc. . I want to "clean" this family by removing multiple types.

What is the easiest way to do this?

Because, if I delete everything (lines, text etc.) from a type in the "preview visibity window" it is possible that if I delete this type, I also delete items that are also used by another type.

For example; Family type 1 contains 2 circles and has parameter A, B and C and family type 2 contains 1 circle and parameter C and D. If I remove type 2,  1 circle and parameter C is not visible anymore in type 1. They are removed from this family.

If I delete type 2 in the Family Types manager, parameter D is still available in this family. But type 1 doesn't use this parameter.

How can I remove family types with their own parameters/ lines/ text/ dimensions etc. without removing this from other types if these items are used in multiple types?

The "example family" contains 2 family types. The one I want to clean contains >50 types en >100 parameters.

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure and can't test this just now so apologies in advance if this doesn't work.

I think you can select an instance of the family in a project, edit family and saveas and I think it only selects the particular type which you had in your project without lifting all of the other types.

As I say, apologies if this doesn't work.

In the project browser, select the type to be deleted, right click, delete.

Hello RobDraw,

If I remove the family types in the project browser, the types are also removed in the family, but the rest (parameters/ lines....) are still visible if I edit the family.

I also want to remove this, not only the family type.

I think you are going to have to determine what parameters are being used by the types you want to keep and delete the rest. It's not going to be easy. In fact, it might faster to recreate the family from scratch.

Hello,

There is not simple route to achieve this.

Usually I delete types and elements in the family editor, then delete the parameters.
