Reference plan properties

Am I missing something?

I created a reference plan I named it and it turned into a work plane. If I click on it, in properties palette I don't see it's name and I don't see that I clicked actually on a reference plan. Its showing 'Work Plane Grid'. And what is the workset in the properties palette? I understand the workset at the bottom of the screen...

You just did Show the Work Plan of that view from this button.  Even if this work plane is set to your named reference plan, you are not selecting the reference plane per se.

The workset indicated is the one that the view is on - Revit creates a workset for each view.

If you want to select the reference plane, view it in section and select it.
