Project Browser Sheet Organization

So, I haven't found anything on this but I feel like it's a problem other people must have had. The basic number and order of our sheets are M100, EP100, EL100, ED100, etc. Now, the problem is that I can't figure out how to set it up so that the order to print is correct. Every way that I've tried to organize the sheets in the project browser places them out of order since the list isn't alphabetical. So is there a way to manually order the sheets and save it? Or something else I'm missing? Ideally, I'd rather not have to physically order every sheet every time I need to print something. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Taylor,

You can add a numerical project parameter for sheets (that you can enter order numbers as you want), and then set your sheets' browser organisation based on that parameter.

P.S.: You can use dynamo if you want to make the numbering process more automated.

Let me know if you had problem to apply it or if I did not understand your problem correctly.

creating a sheet index can be done by using a shared Parameter in your project.

then filter inside the project as you need using point numbers or varying sequences.

4.1, 4.2 or 41, 42

Ok, So I created a "Sheet Order" and it somehow automatically put all of sheets in the right order automatically...  Any idea how it did this?? My more important question/problem is that I set the parameter as a "common - integer", and it automatically added it to the sheets as a length dimension. So the numbers are things like 6' 33/354". How can I change these things?

in the family editor when you created the Parameter you left the default setting as Length and Dimensions (see image below)

recreate the shared parameter and use Type of Parameter = Number and Group it under Identity Data

add into your project as a Project Parameter assigned to Sheets in the categories

I would organize the Browser by Group or Folder before I go to assign order numbers to individual sheets.  Within each group, sheets can be sorted by their own sheet number without an extra order number to fill in.  It is much less work.

I use BS1192-2 Shared Parameters for each Sheet and organise by Discipline, Sheet Type then Sheet Number e.g. E(623)0001 Lighting in Zone 01.

When you create the sheets the rest automatically organises itself.
