I am working on a scan to Revit project based on the point cloud. I have set round ducts on the position where point indices are. Each segment of the duct has a different slope and it goes in a different vector direction. Differences between these slopes are very small, less than 1 degree. Once I try to connect them with fittings I am not able to. I am getting errors: 1. The resulting angle between the segments is too great or too small.
2. The specified angles are not compatible with your current layout. Check routing preferences and the specific angles used in Mechanical Settings. Revit simply cant creat adecvate fitting.
I don't know how to approach this problem. What are the best practices when modeling MEP based on point cloud?
Is there a solution to this problem?
A few part solutions came to my mind but I was not fully satisfied:
1. Model ducts without slopes so fittings can be created. This way I would not respect the point cloud model.
2. Create a model in place duct fitting with swept bend option. This creates fitting which looks quite nice but it can be connected to ducts because there is a small class on connecting points.
I am attaching some screenshots of the problem and Revit file itself.
Thanks for your reply to anyone who gives it a try.
