Point cloud conversion to Revit best practices

Hello,
The City of Portland Environmental Services has acquired tunnel scans including piping networks at one of our treatment plants. Our desire is to convert the point cloud scans of these pipe networks to 3d horizontal and vertical feature objects using Revit. I know Revit is commonly used in Architectural design to convert point clouds to building models.
My question is, are there best practices for doing this kind of conversions from point clouds to features using Revit for Civil engineering practices?

You can use a program like ReCap to view the point cloud. ReCap will allow you to walk thru, take measurements and see photos from the scan locations if they were provided.

to convert the cloud into elements there are several tools out there Scan-to-BIM & ClearEdge are 2 we have used in my office for point cloud conversion. There are several other conversion tools out there as well.
