Piping equipment mystery

Alright here is a tough one,

Piece of equipment with a heating coil

two connectors: (1) defined in the family as hydronic supply (also the primary connector) and (2) defined in the family as hydronic return

Custom pipe system types: in this case I am trying to pipe my equipment into a "Secondary Heating Water [Supply or Return]"

Why is it that the pipe drawn from the primary connector is able to be placed on any system type, i.e. custom system type of my choosing, but the non-primary is not able to do the same thing?

Practically this look like the following:

I have a VAV with a reheat coil attached, and I am trying to pipe up my supply and return. These two pipes should be on my custom pipe system type "Secondary Heating Water Supply" and "Secondary Heating Water Return" respectively. I should be able to "draw pipe" from both connectors on the VAV and assign them to the proper system, but I can only do that on the primary connector side and not the other...

Any ideas out there?

Hi wils02,

Try to check the "System Classification" of your Secondary Heating Water Return pipe. Select the return pipe and see if this is in the correct system classification, you can find this from the properties box while the pipe is selected. If the return pipe shows the "supply" type or any other non-return type classifications then then the Secondary Heating Water Return piping system was using the wrong system classification. You have to recreate this by the duplicating the default Revit Hydronic Return system classification and rename it as per your requirement.

If the above does not fixed the problem, try to re visit your family, check again the system classification used by the pipe connectors. Keep in mind that the flow direction for the supply connector should be set to "In" and return should be to "Out".

Let me know if this fixed the problem.
