Pipe transition pickbox is HUGE

Is there a family setting to change the selection criteria of a fitting?

See in my screenshot:

I am trying to click on the pipe and my cursor didn't capture in the screenshot but is indicated by the black blob.  The program is selecting the transition fitting coming off the main.  Why is this pickbox so big?

I don't really understand what you're saying.

Firstly the size of the cursor will have nothing to do with the transition fitting.

I don't have a pickbox in Revit, only the cursor arrow.

Here is mine when selecting a 20mm (3/4") pipe elbow and its not affected by view scale.

Is it maybe something to do with your Windows pointer settings?

Right, I did not mean to express the actual size of my cursor.  From my original screenshot my cursor is at the end of the pipe, but still picking up the vertical transition as if I want to select it.  I am not near the transition but trying to click the end of the pipe.

Right so the black blob you meant is the one I’ve ringed in red attached, not the one in green.

In that case it might be something to do with the extents of the transition family - could you upload the family for examination?

I'm  having to reinstall Revit just now but I'll look at this later if no-one else helps out beforehand.

I downloaded your family and tried it in a project but I couldn't repeat the behaviour that you're getting.

Sorry that I couldn't help.

Thanks for checking it out, I have recorded a short clip showing the behavior.  I am trying to click down the branch pipe, but it is trying to pick up the transition coming off the main.

I've had some issues before when creating families regarding long reference lines being used to select the part in the model when the cursor is not directly over the part and obviously trying to select it. Your RFA however, doesnt seem to have any reference lines. That being said, it could be related to the long reference planes you have in the family - though I have my doubts. I also placed it in a project and couldn't get it to replicate your problem.

You might be on to something with the reference planes.

Several of the planes are Strong Reference.

I checked one of the Autodesk eccentric reducer families (carbon steel) and the reference planes are all set as Not a Reference.

@trout9F56M maybe try editing the family and change the properties of the planes and see if that makes a difference.

If this is the problem, and he needs them as strong references lines, at the very least he could always just shorten them in the RFA file so that the cursor doesn't come close to them in the model world.

Thank you @iainsavage and @fitzpatricktNUEY2 for taking the time to help me out.  I edited the reference planes first bringing them in closer to the modeled element and that did not change the behavior.

I then edited the "Is Reference" to "not a reference" and now it is not being picked up.

And to clear my own name, this is not my project or family....XD
