Pipe Fitting Fabrication Drawings

Hi all,

I am busy learning Revit, by re-creating an project that was completed a few years ago with AutoCAD.  I have modeled a biological reactor for a sewerage plant.  I am feeling confident with the modelling of the concrete structure.

The part that I am now busy with is the mechanical pipe work.  Below are examples of how we would draw the pipework in AutoCAD.  We would then schedule the pipe fittings in a schedule that would be sent off to a workshop where these fittings would be manufactured.

  1. Is it possible to create a drawing that indicated the pipework similar to that in the schedule?
  2. What is the preferred method of drawing pipe specials?  In the schedule below, there are only three types of fittings.  For something similar to this, can I create a family for each type of pipe special?Pipework layout example.png

    Please advise

Hello,

You can try to use fabrication parts instead of the regular pipes, but I don´t know if you will get all parts you need.

You could do with the Victaulic Tools addin for Revit (see Above).

It automates production of these kind of schedules and will create fabrication spool drawings from selected 3D geometry.

The fittings don't have to be Victaulic either and you can tweak the schedules to report the info you want.

Its pretty cheap to licence but you get a 30day trial to play with and I think there are support videos which would help you learn the functionality...

Let us know if its any use to you.

PS..I dont work for Victaulic.
