Hello,

I have a problem with pipe accessories in Revit. I have two families — a butterfly valve and a zone check for sprinkler systems. What I want is to place a ball (preferably green) at the flow detector (zone check family) to clearly indicate that this valve or flow detector is being monitored (I’m sending an attachment).

The problem is that whether I insert the ball as a nested family or draw it directly in the family, when I load the family into the model, the ball turns red — even though its material is set to green. Just to clarify, I have the pipe system material (Fire Protection Wet) set to red, and I understand that components assigned to the system inherit this color.

Is there a way to keep the ball green (even during exports), despite the pipe system having an assigned material override?

(first screenshot is with material pipe system (red ball), second is without (green ball)

Thank you!

Have you tried making a filter for it?

Hello,

Try to make the nested ball family a Shared one by checking Shared in the properties. Nested shared families do not get System overrides.
