Phases From Linked Model

I'm having a weird issue today. I have an Arch model linked into our MEP model. The Arch model has like 5 phases in it. But when I try to map my phases to these phases. Only 2 phases show up from the Arch linked model. What could be the reasoning behind this. Any ideas are helpful. Revit 2016

First, you need to create 5 equivalent phases in your model - I strongly recommend naming them identically to the architectural phases.

After that, you need to map the phases in your model to the equivalent phases in the architectural model.  To do this, select the architectural model in any view, then Edit Type and choose Phase Mapping.  Once you do this, you should be able to edit the V/G and phase settings in each view as necessary.

Thanks. I swear I've had linked in models that showed all the phases, even if I didn't have multiple phases created. Maybe not, AU kind of fried my brain last week.

You could control visibility of linked phases in the V/G window under Linked Models, but your phase settings/graphic overrides in your design model won't cascade down to the linked models unless you name the phases identically and map them to each other.  Number and nomenclature of model phases are one of the first things to discuss in the BIM kickoff meeting you should probably be having for every project.  Along with Design Options (which my firm uses to document alternate bids as well as initial design choices in the programming/SD phases.

I couldn't agree more. In my experience, general contractors like to bypass the kickoff meeting. i.e. this job. I send them a kickoff form with all the necessary information I need. 9 out of 10 times I get absolutely nothing back. The last few jobs, we haven't even gotten Revit/CAD files from the engineers. The contracting world is still a bit of a mess.
