Panel Schedules for Inverters and UPS Panels

We have created an emergency lighting inverter family under the category Electrical Equipment. If the part type is set to "Panelboard" it works fine and is  able to generate a panel schedule. However, for inverters ( and UPSs) where the output voltage is different from the the input voltage, there is a problem. If the part type is changed to "transformer", there does not seem to be a way to generate or edit a panel schedule (the options are grayed out when the item is selected). If the part type is set back to "Panelboard", the "Secondary Distribution System" parameter goes away.

 

What is the method for creating a panel or load schedule for a piece of equipment that transforms voltage and has multiple secondary breakers?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can do exactly what you want.

 

A workaround would be to use two pieces of electrical equipment, one a transformer and one a panelboard. That will allow you to get the electrical model correct.

 

Not a great solution, but it should work given the features that currently exist.

You can use two separate families, as suggested above, or you can do what we do for inverters, UPS, and MPZ, and create a shared "Input Voltage" and "Output Voltage" parameter and use those for your tags/schedules/etc.

 

Revit won't really acknowledge the possibility of a branch panel (or its functional equivalent) also being a transformer.

Have you tried nesting a transformer with primary and secondary panels with appropriate voltages in the same family?

 

Not sure if you can create separate Panel Schedules for panels in the same family or if you can mix voltages.
