Panel Family Tag Problem

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am using an panel family 208 volt, MLO, Lighting and Appliance panelboards.  Every time I place one, give it a name for example P1, when tag it, I get a different name, say X1.  Every time I delete it and add again same thing except but the tag name changes to X2.  Its like it adds a number in sequence to the tag every time I try to add another one.  The actual panel name shows up in the System Browser but I cannot get to tag to match.

Did and "Edit Type' to see if there was something there but did not see anything related. Anybody ever had such a problem?

OK,  I am noticing that my panels have a "Panel Name" entry and a "Mark" entry in the Properties Panel.  When I create a panel, I thought previously that the "Panel Name" is the tag.  I don't remember having to fill out both.  What am I missing?

Edit the tag family, select the label, edit the label and make sure it's referring to the Panel Name parameter.

I did find out that I could change the Panel Mark in the properties to match the panel name.  I just didn't remember doing that before.  I thought I simply filled in the panel name and that was also the tag.  Why the option to tag the panel otherwise?  That could lead to errors.

Thanks for you help.

Also, when you enter a name for "Mark" in the Properties Panel for one panel, Revit sequentially tags the next panel you place.

I think you misunderstood - the tag is a separate family (probably called "Electrical Equipment Tag" or something similar.  You need to edit that family so that it refers to the "Panel Name" parameter instead of whatever it's looking at currently.

Select the tag (not the panel), choose Edit Family from the ribbon.  When the family opens, select the default text that appears and choose "Edit label" in the Properties Palette.  You'll get a dialog from which you can add/remove parameters to the label.  Remove whatever the current parameter is and add Panel Name in its place.  Reload the family into your project (save it somewhere when you do so), and overwrite the current version.

Yes. Misunderstood you the first time.  I am new at this so I miss what is obvious to others.  Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous

Just for future reference, please accept the relevant solutions to your original query as it was resolved by @Anonymous.

The reason is not to cause future misleading "Solved/Solutions" to a question in Google Indexed Pages/Searches or on Forum Searches as can be seen below:

The "Solved/Solution" in this post will not serve a purpose to other or new community members.

You'll notice that you can "Accept as Solution" underneath another community members post which possibly served as a solution, as shown below for example.

Sorry but do I need to do anything else with the post?  As far as I can tell I have accepted the solution.  Is your point that each reply I get that answers in whole are part my question needs to be "Accepted as a Solution".

Hi @Anonymous

The solution/s which need to be "Accept as Solution" are generally the post/s which you feel answered your query to your original post in whole or if you e.g. -  you asked a follow-up query which served as a further solution, then that post could also be a solution or accepted as one.

Basically, the post/s which helped you resolve your issues. (It can also be a solution provided by two different community members, but you would want to accept the post/s which served as a solution most relevant to your original query or both if there were two different ways of getting you to an end result).

In this thread, my previous post should not have been accepted as a solution, as it didn't answer your original query in any way or form.

In THIS THREAD my first and second post basically served as a solution and not my last post or the post where you thanked me.

I hope this helps! Smiley Wink
