Options for Revit Fabrication Parts

I am trying to add basic Insulation or Liner to any Mechanical Fabrication part.  However all the options i have for that is the Insulation Specification which I do NOT want.  I am hoping there is something in AutoCAD Fabrication that I am overlooking that sends this to Revit to choose for an option.  Anyone have any ideas?  I just want to be able to select that it has insulation and/or liner and how thick each is like you do in CAD.

Unfortunately, It is not possible jet to add insulation to Fabrication parts.

Even if you modeled a design layout and convert that to Fabrication parts it won't concert the insulation.

I will ask one of my Autodesk contacts about this.

I totally agree that it should be possible to do this.

Hi there,

I'm afraid that any insulation or lining must be created or modified in the Insulation Specifications in a Fabrication product - such as CAMduct. You only need to put as much information in as you want to output.

Using one of the options available under Insulation Specifications is the only way to apply insulation or lining in the Revit environment. I don't have  any meaningful experience with AutoCAD MEP or Fabrication CADmep, so I can't confirm nor deny if there is some sneaky way to achieve what you want. My assumption would be that there isn't.

I suppose you could just use the Fabrication Notes parameter to fudge it?

Have you been able to figure this out yet. I am in a similar situation where the only option I have is for 2" lining. I need 1.5" for a project. I see in my Fabrication CADMEP I have a ton of options, but I don't know how to import those option into Revit. Any info you may have come across is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Apparently unless you work your database to show that, there is no way to change or add it at this time.  Which I feel is stupid and hope that Autodesk changes and fixes that soon.  

So my only solution to you is to work on your database as one of the guys above suggested.  I just made it work cause i have to import to CADmep anyway and I just add it then.

Thanks for the quick response. I fortunately/unfortunately will not be exporting this in CAD so I guess I'm stuck. Hoping they fix it soon.

For Revit to 'see' your database you need to have a Fabrication product (for me, that's CAMduct) of the same release as Revit installed on your machine. For example, if you are running Revit 2018 you'll need to install CAMduct 2018.

Once you've done that you should be able to select your database in Revit's Fabrication Settings. If you make changes to your database you'll need to reload (Fabrication Settings) the database in Revit. As long as you've done this, there shouldn't be any issues.

Thanks for your reply back. I am currently using Fabrication CADMep 2018 as
my database to bring in fabrication parts in revit 2018. So far i've been
pretty successful creating various systems for pipe and duct.

The problem I am having is that I only have one size option for insulation
for the fabrication part in Revit. It's 2". If I open a drawing in CADmep
and model a section of duct I have numerous options for insulation. I am
wondering how I can get those options into Revit.
