Multi level stairs - entry into levels

Hi all,

I am creating a stair well that connects multiple levels. What is the right approach to make the landing and rail have entries into each floor.

Right now, I made a continuous stair that went all the way from ground to very top floor with no access to respective floors. Now I do not know how to make opening in the handrails to provide access into each floor.

FYI. The floor levels are NOT uniformly spaced. So, the stairwell is not identical between floors. Its kind of convoluted.

Any ideas?

- You can use Split tool to split the railing to create opening.  The drawback is you cannot modify the railing afterward except for redo it from scratch.

- You can create one stair between two adjacent levels and generate multi-level stairs from it.

Either way, create railing by Sketch path + Pick new host instead of Pick stair, so that you can choose exactly where railing need to occur.

Below is the picture I was referring to. As you see I drew two stairs (yellow and purple) because of different riser heights.

I have to modify the railing that are marked. I'll try your tip and update.

Btw, the landings are not actually connected between stairs. It is a manually drawn landing.

I used multi-level level stairs. But I could not get the stairs the way needed. So ended up with drawing several stairs connecting different (landing) levels.

Create individual stairs instead of multi-stairs is fine.

But did you read these parts of the previous reply regarding the railing?

Yes I read before reply. 

1. The split tool did work nicely.

2. I did not quit understand "Sketch path + Pick new host" stuff. So I did not try.

As of now, the rails are discontinuous at many places. Is there a way to join them?

- The inner rails are disconnected within each stair due to sharp bend I guess.

- And wherever two different stairs meet, there is a rail disconnect.

Just wondering, how do people manage to get stairs (+ everything to it) drawn neatly where we have different riser height?
