Monitor Grids Without Monitoring Grid Extents

Monitor Grids Without Monitoring Grid Extents

Anonymous
Not applicable

We have a standard of monitoring the grids from our structural model in our liked models. I like have the grids monitored so the plan of the grid can shift as the structural grid shifts. I do not like structural having control of the extents of my grids. When structural changed the 3D extents of a grid, it move the extents of my grid from where I intent them to be. Is there a way to monitor the plane of a grid without monitoring the 3D extents (in height or in gridline length)?

Do you have the girds from the structural link turned Off? if you are Copy/Monitoring the grid from the structural model, the structural grid stretching should not effect the grids in your model. your grids should only effected if the structural grids physically move.

if you are leaving the structural grid visible, after you Copy/Monitor, you may see the structural grid stretched thru the link.

I'm guessing that you are not explaining your issue properly. It sounds like you may actually trying to control the 2D grid lines and bubbles that represent the grids and not the actual grids.

Is that correct?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I copy/monitor the structural grids into my project, and turn them off in the Revit link... never had an issue with this workflow.

this is a long shot, but do you ever Manually change the 2D/3D feature on your grids? we had an issue with that a while back where the user was not letting Revit manage it and was manually changing from 3D to 2D and visa versa.  this caused his grids to misbehave.

Edit... sorry  the was meant for the OP.
