Model Exporting Corrupted GBXML file

I have an MEP model (2016), with a linked architectural model and spaces fully populated. When I export the spaces to .gbxml, the file I'm left with is unusable in IES Model IT (comes in with no windows or doors and fractured walls, floors etc). Even when I try to bring it into Dialux ,which is normally much less problematic than IES, it generates an error for every space in the model. I've tried removing all the geometry except for a small number of rooms/spaces (see attached gbxml) but I still get the same issues.

I've tried making a new MEP model and re-linking the arch model, but I get the same results. However, when I create a new architectural model using the same families for walls, doors, windows, etc. and I link that into a new MEP model, I can create spaces and export everything perfectly.

The architectural model isn't 100% in terms of walls having tops/bottoms connected etc, but I've seen that (all too often) in models before without this issue.

Any ideas before I give up?

Thanks

Find better architects to work with.

Seriously though, I have yet to get a single successful gbxml model out of an MEP model with linked ARCH. The wall/floor/ceiling joins always screw it up, usually by creating spaces with extremely narrow shafts where the wall/ceiling join is incomplete.

Thanks bsammis,

We also struggle to get usable .gbxml files. We have previously gotten something usable by working with the architects to pin down modelling quirks that have a detrimental affect on the output. This time however, I don't even know where to start.

It's an area that needs attention, not being able to thermally analyse the architectural model is a huge loss to a project.

This is sad news but architect have different point of interest and their model is not usable to simulation purposes. It is better make new workflow how in efficient way rebuild architect model. I actually noticed that is much better to export model when linked architect model is unloaded. But this is a case when I re-generate architect model.

On other hand different software developed more than others so  gbXML import isat different stage. From my experience SOLAR-COMPUTER and TAS are the most advanced and flexible ones.

Ps. I will be presenting at RTC 2016 Europe my approach to this subject.
